Moon over manifest
This is book is one of the stranger books I've read. It is about a girl named Abilene who was sent away by her father to go live with a man who took him in when he was a child. His name is shady. Her only possession are some newspaper, a few dimes, and a compass. She has heard many great and fantastic story's about the green lush place named manifest, which is we're she is going to live for a while, but she soon finds out that those tales were in the past, and it's just an old run down town. But soon after going to her first, and last, day of school her friends and her go into an old treehouse and Abilene shows them an old cigar case full of old papers. These turn out to be evidence about a spy named the rattler and abilene and her new found friends must try to find out the truth about the rattler even though they have been warned to "leave well enough alone". I'm not very far in the book but so far it's pretty good, my favorite character is shady because he's so polite and quite even though from his description he wouldn't be. Another good idea in this book is the way the author describes kids in school. He sets them into certain groups that seem almost realistic. Over all this is a good book and if you like old spy story's you should read it, but if you are not a patient reader you should not read this book.
