isaac azimof book review

this book is  a book about life in 12,020 G.E. its a masterful story about the fictional story of life in the future. empereor cleon is the emperor of the galactic empire. the emperor sits on his thrown in the city of trantor, the super advance city of the future. but he knows that there are many people who would like to disthrone him, so hes trying to find someone to predict the future, thats were isaac asimov. i would definetly recomened this to any person who likes sciense fiction, its a great first story to the isaac asimov series. my favorite part of this book was when isaac and the emperor are talking about his theory about seeing the future. its interesting because the emperor makes himself at the same class level as isaac. my favorite character is definetly the emperor just because hes the most interesting. hes not the classic mean emperor, he has a better way of thinking. im amazed that he actually didnt kill isaac after he insulted the emperor. the plot was interesting because its kind of a classic story, but the way its told is definetly better than most. over all a great book, i would definetly read the rest of the series.

  1. You're reading Foundation right?

I wondered about including this book in my Upper School Science Fiction and Fantasy course. I like classic science fiction, and Asimov certainly fills the bill. Some readers get impatient with the world building that has to happen when you construct a series like this, but I like the detail that goes into it. If the exposition is well developed, it's not a heavy slog to understand the names for things, the government, and the geography. It's cool and becomes part if the story.

Asimov was a pioneer in a genre, and I'm delighted that you have found him. I think there are others in the grade who like these, so I'm happy to revisit them. I haven't read Asimov or Clarke or Bradbury in years!

  2. this is a very strange book graham. Especially with all the strange names and words. I think this book has probably been written in some other way. However I cannot say that it is a bad book because I like those kinds of books. Hope you like it. --jameslo
